First time in history Blood Moon to be visible in Pakistan on This Date

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has announced that a rare celestial event—a Blood Moon—will be visible in Pakistan for the first time in the country’s history. The phenomenon will occur during a total lunar eclipse taking place on the night between September 7 and 8, 2025.

According to official details, the lunar eclipse will begin at 8:28 pm on September 7 with the penumbral phase, followed by a partial eclipse starting at 9:27 pm. The eclipse will reach its peak at 11:12 pm, when the moon will appear deep red in color, creating what is popularly known as a “Blood Moon.” The partial phase will then continue until 12:57 am, with the total eclipse ending at 1:55 am on September 8.

In total, the lunar eclipse will last for 5 hours and 27 minutes, making it a significant astronomical event. Experts say the phenomenon will be visible not only in Pakistan but also across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and over the Pacific Ocean.

Astronomers explain that the reddish glow of the Blood Moon occurs because sunlight is filtered through the Earth’s atmosphere and cast onto the lunar surface during the eclipse. This natural effect often fascinates skywatchers and has been historically linked with myths, legends, and cultural beliefs around the world.

For Pakistan, this will mark the first time citizens will be able to witness a Blood Moon directly. The Meteorological Department has encouraged astronomy enthusiasts, students, and the general public to observe the event, noting that such celestial occurrences are rare and memorable.

As the date approaches, experts advise using telescopes or binoculars for a clearer view, though the eclipse will be visible to the naked eye without any safety equipment—unlike solar eclipses, which require protective filters.

The event is expected to draw wide public interest across the country, with many preparing to gather in open spaces to watch the moon’s transformation into a glowing red orb.
