Private Colleges Outperform Public Institutions in HSSC 2025 Results, Punjab Colleges Secure Most Top Positions

The Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) across Punjab announced the results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) First Annual Examination 2025 highlighting once again the performance gap between private and public sector institutions.

Out of 335 top positions private colleges secured 283 (84%) while only 52 (16%) went to government and semi-government institutions. The results reflect the continuing trend of private sector dominance in board examinations across the province.

Among private institutions, Punjab Colleges claimed 143 top positions which is more than half of the total private sector achievements. The results also pointed to another consistent pattern: female students outperformed male students across streams and categories continuing a shift that has been visible for several years.

Pass percentages varied among boards with the Federal Board recording the highest at 81.10%, followed by DG Khan (74.86%) and Faisalabad (73.71%). However Rawalpindi Board showed the lowest pass percentage at 54.12%. These figures highlight regional differences in educational outcomes but private institutions particularly Punjab Colleges managed to secure positions across all regions.

The data once again raises questions about the performance of government institutions in comparison to private colleges. While resource availability, teaching quality and institutional focus are often cited as factors the gap continues to widen each year.

Educational experts note that while the consistent performance of private colleges including Punjab Colleges demonstrates strong preparation mechanisms, it also reflects the need for serious reforms in the public education system to ensure wider and more equitable opportunities for students across Pakistan.
