Pakistan to Launch 5G in these Cities Soon

Pakistan is preparing to take a big step in its digital journey as 5G services are expected to be introduced in the coming months. The rollout will begin with seven of the country’s largest cities, marking the start of a new era of faster and more reliable internet.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja shared the update during the inauguration of the 26th ITCN Asia Expo in Karachi. She said the government is working to expand digital access and make internet services more dependable across the nation.

Although the arrival of 5G is being welcomed, experts believe the transition will not be easy. PTA has already pointed out challenges such as high costs and financial pressures, which could slow down the process.

Despite these concerns, Pakistan’s use of mobile and broadband services continues to grow, making the launch of 5G a crucial step for the future.

The minister also highlighted how technology is becoming central to Pakistan’s development. She mentioned that the recently signed agreement with Saudi Arabia will boost digital infrastructure and help accelerate economic growth.

Alongside 5G, the government has also approved a national Artificial Intelligence policy. Plans are in place to train up to one million young people in AI and cybersecurity by the end of this year.

Shaza Fatima stressed that the world is moving fast towards digital solutions, and Pakistan’s youth must be ready to adapt. With 5G on the horizon, Pakistan is aiming to position itself as a stronger player in the global technology landscape.
