Pakistan’s meme NFT sold for 86 lac PKR

Muhammad Asif Raza, a Pakistani government employee, made an earth-shattering declaration on Facebook in September 2015: “Mudasir brought an end to their friendship. Salman is now one of my closest friends.” The story rapidly went viral, and it became one of the most well-known Internet memes.

Raza has made a tidy profit from his random meme by auctioning it as a non-fungible token on the NFT marketplace Foundation, almost six years later.

Andrew Kang, the co-founder of crypto investment firm Mechanism Capital, bought the NFT this evening for 20 ETH ($52,174), or 86 Lac Rupees.

Raza didn’t shy away from pushing the buyers against each other to inflate the auction’s price, declaring a change in his BFF status each time someone submitted the highest bid.
