HEC Warns of Fake Calls Demanding Money for Degree Attestation

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a public warning about fraudulent callers impersonating its representatives and attempting to deceive citizens by demanding money for services such as degree attestation, equivalence and other official procedures.

The commission said it has received multiple complaints involving such calls, with some callers also attempting to obtain sensitive personal information from members of the public.

HEC clarified that it has not authorised anyone to contact citizens by phone to collect payments or personal information for these services.

The commission also emphasized that it does not provide degree attestation, equivalence or related services through phone calls and does not request payments from applicants through this method.

Citizens are therefore advised to remain cautious when receiving unsolicited calls claiming to be from HEC officials.

The commission urged the public not to share PIN codes, passwords, identification details, banking information or other financial data with unknown callers.

Anyone receiving a suspicious call should avoid providing information or making payments and report the matter to their telecom operator’s helpline or the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) through the appropriate channels.
