450 Arre*sted Global Sumud Flotilla Activists to Be Deported to Europe

Israeli forces have detained more than 450 activists who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a mission that was delivering aid to Gaza.

The flotilla was made up of dozens of boats carrying people from different countries who wanted to show support for Palestinians and provide humanitarian help.

Among those taken into custody are well-known names such as Pakistan’s former senator Mushtaq Ahmed, climate activist Greta Thunberg, and Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela. Their participation was meant to highlight the importance of peace, justice, and humanitarian relief for the people of Gaza.

Reports say that the Israeli navy intercepted 42 boats and blocked their communication systems before bringing them under control. Activists on board described the action as a violation of international law, arguing that their mission was peaceful and aimed only at helping civilians in need.

Israeli authorities announced that the detainees will be deported to Europe from the port city of Ashdod. Human rights groups have already started raising concerns about the treatment of the activists and the legality of preventing aid from reaching Gaza.

The Global Sumud Flotilla had gained attention worldwide, as it included international activists, lawmakers, and public figures who came together for a common cause.

Their detention has sparked debates about freedom of movement, humanitarian assistance, and the wider situation in Gaza.

Observers say this incident is likely to increase global pressure on Israel, while also drawing more attention to the humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinians.
