Electricity is to be sold at Rs9.1 per unit after the Neelum Jhelum project.

Permission was granted by NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) on Monday to charge electricity of Rs9.118kWh produced by Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project (NJHP).

The project that cost Rs317.367 billion to build by the funding of local and foreign investors is operational from October 17, 2019. Its current functioning is to pay interest on debt and payback of principal amount, which is around Rs428.296 Billion. Power is being sold on a take and pay basis and must run condition.

NJHP has to fulfill the requirements until they get a green flag of TPV (Third Party Validation) by the Executive Committee Of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). Also, NEPRA has forwarded the decision to the federal government about fulfilling requirements and petitioning tariffs to be paid.
