Big Relief! NADRA Makes Getting Birth & Death Certificate Process Easier than Ever

In a landmark move to simplify public services, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced an advanced digital system to streamline the registration of births and deaths across Pakistan.

Launched under the National Biometric and Registration Policy Framework, approved by the Prime Minister on January 1, 2025, this initiative aims to make the process faster, more transparent, and accessible to all citizens.

Acting on the directives of the Federal Minister for Interior, NADRA has begun deploying modern notification tools in hospitals and health centers nationwide.

More than 50 hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Pakistan are included in the project, which is currently in its pilot phase.

These include the Federal Government, PIMS, and CDA Hospitals in Islamabad; Lady Aitchison Hospital in Lahore; Bolan Medical College and Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Quetta; and DHQ Hospitals in Haripur, Batkhela, Mirpur, and Gilgit. The project has also been joined by health centers in Matiari and Hyderabad.

The system automatically transmits birth and death notifications from hospitals directly to NADRA, notifying parents or legal heirs via mobile app and SMS.

Over 4,000 birth and 407 death notifications have already been processed digitally, signifying a major leap toward efficient governance.

Citizens can now register a birth or death either through the NADRA Mobile App or by visiting their nearest Union Council.

Once fully rolled out, this automated mechanism will eliminate delays, paperwork, and manual errors, bringing Pakistan closer to a digitally empowered future.
