Snapchat and Other Major Apps Go Down Due To Amazon Web Sevices Outage Worldwide

A major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage on Monday caused widespread disruptions, affecting some of the world’s most popular apps and online platforms, including Snapchat, Fortnite, Coinbase, and Robinhood.

The outage resulted in connectivity issues, delayed responses, and high error rates across multiple AWS systems used by thousands of global companies.

Tech monitoring site Downdetector recorded massive spikes in user complaints from the US, UK, and Europe, where many websites and apps temporarily went offline.

According to reports, AWS engineers identified the issue as a network configuration failure within its global cloud infrastructure. The company stated that it was “working on multiple solutions in parallel” to restore affected services fully.

The impact extended to several financial and gaming platforms, with some users unable to log in or process transactions. Perplexity AI, a growing search platform, also confirmed temporary downtime linked to the outage.

Interestingly, Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter) reported that it remained unaffected, highlighting the incident’s selective impact on apps dependent on AWS’s cloud ecosystem.

AWS hosts critical backend systems for major global brands, meaning even short interruptions can have large-scale ripple effects.

While services began stabilizing after several hours, full functionality was expected to resume gradually.
