For the First Time! Lahore Railway Police Appointed Women SHO

In a groundbreaking development, Samia Yasmeen has made history by becoming the first female Station House Officer (SHO) at the Lahore Railway Police Station. Her appointment marks a new chapter in promoting gender equality and women’s participation in law enforcement.

This decision is part of a recent administrative reshuffle within the Railway Police, aimed at improving efficiency and leadership across key divisions.

According to the notification, Ali Mumtaz, who previously served as the SHO of Lahore Railway Police Station, has been transferred to the Sialkot Railway Police Station. Meanwhile, Shahid Riaz has been assigned as the Additional SHO at the Lahore Railway Police Station to support ongoing operations and ensure smooth coordination.

Officials described this move as a progressive step towards modernization and inclusivity within the Railway Police. The department believes that empowering women in leadership roles not only strengthens the police force but also improves public trust and community engagement.

Samia Yasmeen’s appointment has been widely praised as a symbol of change and progress, especially in a field traditionally dominated by men. Many hope that her leadership will inspire more women to join law enforcement and take up active roles in policing.

The Railway Police Lahore Division reaffirmed its commitment to providing equal opportunities and fostering a more balanced workforce.

With this appointment, the department aims to set an example for other divisions across the country to follow, ensuring that competence, dedication, and merit define leadership regardless of gender.
