Pakistan has voiced strong support for Donald Trump’s Gaza plan at the United Nations, framing it as a necessary step toward reducing violence and safeguarding Palestinian lives.
The announcement marks a significant diplomatic moment, as Pakistan emphasized the urgency of easing civilian suffering amid continued instability in the region.
Speaking at the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar noted that the initiative created a rare and much-needed pause in the ongoing conflict. He highlighted that even a brief cessation of hostilities offers space for humanitarian relief and opens the door for potential negotiations.
For Pakistan, any development that protects vulnerable communities and prevents further escalation is viewed as a step in the right direction.
At the same time, Pakistan reiterated its long-standing position on the Palestinian question. Ambassador Iftikhar reaffirmed the country’s unwavering support for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
He stressed that lasting peace can only be achieved through a settlement that respects international law and ensures dignity, security, and self-determination for the Palestinian people.
Pakistan’s response signals a broader diplomatic approach that balances immediate humanitarian concerns with long-term political principles.
While the Gaza plan is seen as a temporary measure, Pakistan hopes it will lead to sustained dialogue and meaningful progress toward resolving one of the world’s most enduring conflicts.
