Winter in Murree Gets Safer! Extra Rescue Teams & Snow-Clearing Vehicles Announced for Tourist Safety

Murree is stepping up preparations ahead of the winter tourism season, introducing new safety measures to ensure visitors have a secure and enjoyable experience.

The winter season, running from December 15 to February 25, has in the past seen traffic congestion, accidents, and crowd management challenges, prompting authorities to adopt a comprehensive “snow plan.”

As part of the plan, 20 snow-clearing vehicles have been deployed to keep main roads accessible, while 19 facilitation centres will provide support and information to tourists. A military contingent will be stationed for 24/7 monitoring, working alongside NDMA, Rescue 1122, police, and Civil Defence personnel to maintain safety and assist in emergencies.

To improve traffic flow, parking is banned on main roads, and vehicle entry will be strictly controlled. Hotels have been instructed to follow fixed rates for rooms, food, and recreational activities, preventing exploitation during peak season.

Tourists are advised to come prepared with warm clothing, blankets, snow chains, and essential supplies to deal with cold weather and possible delays.

Authorities are also taking measures to manage crowds and prevent disputes, ensuring that visitors can enjoy Murree’s snowy landscapes safely. Officials emphasize that these precautions are designed to reduce risks, provide prompt assistance in emergencies, and maintain order in one of Pakistan’s most popular winter destinations.

With these steps, Murree is aiming for a safer and more organized winter season, giving tourists peace of mind while enjoying the hill station’s scenic beauty and festive atmosphere.
