The Pakistan Cricket Board is launching a nationwide school cricket talent hunt from September 19 to identify and encourage young cricketing talent from across Pakistan. The initiative will bring together around 21,000 students from 1,400 schools spread across 100 districts, with a total of 2,895 matches planned as part of the programme.
The talent hunt will provide young players with opportunities to compete at school level, receive training and showcase their abilities in key areas of the game, including batting, bowling, fielding and fitness. Students from different parts of the country, including Gilgit, Gwadar, Kashmir, Dera Ismail Khan and Larkana, will also participate, giving the programme a broad nationwide reach.
The initiative will officially begin at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore at 7 PM, with the opening programme featuring a live performance by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The event will mark the start of a nationwide effort focused on identifying promising young cricketers and giving them opportunities to develop their skills through competitive cricket.
The programme aims to create a pathway for talented school players to progress from grassroots cricket into the U15, U17 and U19 levels, followed by regional and national cricket. By connecting school cricket with the wider development structure, the initiative will provide young players with an opportunity to showcase their potential and continue developing within the sport.
