Punjab Reportedly Ends Weekly Holiday for School Admin Staff

Punjab’s School Education Department has reportedly ended Saturday holidays for school administrative officers, announcing that offices will now remain open on both Saturday and Sunday.

The authority has directed all attached institutions to follow the new instructions without delay.

According to reports, the decision applies to different subordinate organisations working under the department, including the Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI), Punjab Education Monitoring Authority (PEMA), Punjab Education Communication and Technology Authority (PECTA), and the Children’s Library Complex.

These institutions have been told to adjust their weekly schedules and ensure staff availability throughout the weekend.

Officials believe that this change has been introduced to improve coordination between different units working under the School Education Department.

By keeping offices open for the full week, the department expects faster communication, better workflow and stronger progress on ongoing projects. This move is also expected to help reduce delays in documentation, file movement, and decision-making processes.

The department has also instructed the heads of 10 attached organisations to personally ensure that the weekend working plan is implemented properly. They must also update the Secretary of Schools about their official arrangements and overall performance under the new schedule.

Authorities say the revised timetable reflects the government’s goal of strengthening administrative quality in Punjab’s education system. The new routine aims to create smoother coordination, resolve departmental issues quickly and support educational management across the province.

Officials further state that continuous office operations will make problem-solving easier and ensure that tasks previously slowed down by weekend closures can now move ahead without interruption.

The new working pattern highlights the department’s commitment to improving its service delivery and supporting schools more effectively throughout Punjab.
