Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to complete the design work for a modern cricket stadium in Islamabad within the next 10 days. The stadium is planned to be a state-of-the-art facility that will meet international standards and promote sports activities in the federal capital.
The direction was given during a high-level meeting where several important development projects for Islamabad were reviewed. Officials briefed the minister on progress related to a smart underpass aimed at easing traffic congestion, as well as plans for a new national park that will provide recreational space for citizens.
Proposals for building a convention centre and a five-star hotel were also discussed, which are expected to boost tourism and business activity in the city.
The meeting also focused on strengthening the Safe City system to improve surveillance and public safety. Additional facilities for law enforcement agencies were reviewed to help them perform their duties more effectively. The minister emphasized the importance of using modern technology to enhance security and emergency response across Islamabad.
Traffic management and waste disposal were key topics during the discussion. Authorities shared plans to improve road flow, reduce bottlenecks, and ensure cleaner surroundings through better waste collection and disposal systems. Urban development initiatives were also reviewed to support planned growth while maintaining the city’s environment.
Anti-encroachment measures were another major point of discussion. The minister directed relevant departments to take firm action against illegal encroachments to protect public land and improve civic order.
Mohsin Naqvi stressed that all projects should be completed on time and according to high standards, with the goal of improving public services and making Islamabad a more modern, safe, and well-managed capital city.
