On Monday, Pakistan and Uzbekistan agreed to further strengthen their economic ties and boost trade between the two countries, with a shared goal of increasing bilateral trade to $2 billion in the near future.
The agreement was reached during the 10th session of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, held in Islamabad. The meeting was co-chaired by Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for Industries and Production, and Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade.
During the session, both sides reviewed the current level of cooperation and discussed practical steps to remove trade barriers, encourage investment, and improve collaboration across key sectors such as industry, manufacturing, and technology. They emphasized the importance of fast-tracking ongoing initiatives and opening new avenues for businesses from both countries to work together.
Officials from Pakistan and Uzbekistan also highlighted the need to strengthen institutional links, support private-sector partnerships, and explore new opportunities that can benefit their economies. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen economic engagement and turn shared plans into concrete results, paving the way for stronger and more sustainable trade relations in the coming years.
