The Punjab Food Authority has sealed a mart located at a motorway rest area after receiving multiple complaints alleging overcharging and the sale of counterfeit, expired, and substandard products. According to officials, some items with a market value of around Rs. 50 were allegedly being sold for as much as Rs. 150, prompting authorities to take immediate action.
Officials stated that the authority remains committed to supporting legitimate businesses that comply with food safety and consumer protection laws. However, they emphasized that strict action will continue against businesses involved in overpricing, food adulteration, the sale of counterfeit products, and the distribution of expired or low-quality food items. The Punjab Food Authority also urged consumers to report such violations to help ensure safe, fair, and transparent business practices across the province.
