A formal welcome ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad to honour the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during his official visit to Pakistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly received the visiting president on his arrival.
During the ceremony, the national anthems of both Pakistan and Kazakhstan were played. A guard of honour was also presented by the armed forces of Pakistan to show respect and hospitality to the visiting leader. The event reflected the importance Pakistan places on its diplomatic relations with Kazakhstan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Tokayev are scheduled to hold detailed meetings during the visit.
These include one-on-one discussions as well as delegation-level talks involving senior officials from both countries. The talks are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in various areas such as trade, investment, energy, regional connectivity, and cultural exchanges.
After the discussions, several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and agreements are expected to be signed. These agreements aim to enhance collaboration between Pakistan and Kazakhstan in multiple sectors and to open new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
Earlier, a special gesture was made by the Pakistan Air Force when President Tokayev’s aircraft entered Pakistani airspace. Fighter jets escorted the plane and offered an aerial salute, symbolising friendship, respect, and strong ties between the two nations.
The visit highlights the growing relationship between Pakistan and Kazakhstan and reflects both countries’ desire to deepen diplomatic, economic, and strategic cooperation.
It also shows Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening relations with Central Asian countries and promoting regional partnerships based on mutual trust and shared interests.
