Govt Launches Safety Training Program for Nearly 4,000 Workers

The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development has announced a new Rs. 39.76 million project to improve occupational safety and health (OSH) standards, focusing on high-risk and export-oriented industries.

The project, named “Capacity Building of Workers/Employees Regarding Occupational Safety and Health,” aims to directly train 3,920 workers, helping them adopt safer workplace practices and reduce risks on the job.

In addition to worker training, the initiative will develop six master trainers and instructors. These trainers will continue to share knowledge and skills beyond the project’s duration, ensuring long-term impact and sustainability.

The program is planned to run for two years, from July 2026 to June 2028, and is expected to strengthen workplace safety culture across Pakistan’s critical industrial sectors.

By combining hands-on training with capacity-building for instructors, the project seeks to protect workers’ health while enhancing productivity and compliance with international safety standards.

Officials say this initiative reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding employees, particularly those in sectors with higher occupational hazards. It also aligns with global best practices for workforce safety and labor protection.

The project is seen as a major step toward ensuring safer workplaces and empowering employees with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent accidents and work-related illnesses.
