Eid-Ul-Fitr Likely to be Celebrated on March 21 in Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that the Shawwal moon is not likely to be seen on March 19. Based on its forecast, Eid ul Fitr is expected to fall on March 21.

However, the final announcement will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC), which is responsible for officially confirming moon sightings in the country.

According to the PMD, the crescent moon is more likely to be visible on March 20. If this happens, Ramadan will complete 30 days, and Eid will be celebrated the following day.

If the moon is not sighted on March 19, Muslims across Pakistan will continue fasting for one more day to complete the full month.

Moon sighting plays an important role in determining Islamic months, including the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal. Religious scholars and experts gather to observe the sky and collect testimonies before making a formal announcement.

The PMD had earlier correctly predicted the start of Ramadan. At that time, the Ramadan moon was first sighted in some areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which helped confirm the beginning of the holy month.

As Eid approaches, people across the country are eagerly waiting for the official decision. Preparations for the celebration usually depend on the confirmed sighting of the moon. Until then, citizens are advised to wait for the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s final announcement.
