Pakistan to Continue Airspace Ban on Indian Aircraft Until Sept 24

Pakistan has extended its restrictions on Indian aircraft, keeping its airspace closed to a range of Indian aviation operations until September 24, 2026.

The decision was confirmed through a new Notice to Airmen issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority. Under the latest notice, the restriction will remain active until 4:59am Pakistan Standard Time on September 24. It covers the Karachi and Lahore flight information regions.

The measure applies to several categories of aircraft linked to India. These include aircraft registered in India, planes operated or leased by Indian airlines and aviation operators, and Indian military aircraft. This means the restriction continues to affect both commercial and military aviation connected with India.

The airspace measure was originally introduced in April 2025, when relations between Pakistan and India became increasingly tense. Since its initial implementation, Pakistan has renewed the restriction several times rather than allowing it to expire.

The continued closure means affected Indian aircraft cannot use the specified Pakistani airspace during the period covered by the latest notice. Airlines and operators affected by the decision will therefore need to continue using alternative routes for flights that would otherwise pass through the restricted areas.

The latest extension comes as Pakistan maintains the existing aviation restrictions between the two countries. The new deadline provides a clear timeline for the current measure, although further decisions could be made before it expires.

For the aviation industry, restrictions on airspace access can influence flight planning, route choices and travel times. Airlines operating between regions may need to adjust their schedules and routes depending on the restrictions in place.

For now, the Pakistani airspace restriction on Indian aircraft remains effective through September 24, 2026.
