Under the programme, Cardiff University will award six scholarships worth £10,000 each to students enrolling in eligible full-time postgraduate taught master’s programmes starting in autumn 2026. Each scholarship is designated for applicants from one of the participating countries: France, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Pakistan and Spain. The award is applied as a tuition fee discount and is intended to ease the financial burden of international study while promoting academic excellence and global engagement.

To be considered, applicants must first secure an offer for an eligible postgraduate course at Cardiff University. Further scholarship details, eligibility requirements and application guidance can be found on the university’s official page:

The deadline to apply for an eligible course and be considered for the GREAT Scholarship is 31 May 2026 (UK time). Eligible offer holders will receive a direct link to the scholarship application form. Applicants are required to submit personal statements addressing their academic achievements, motivations for studying in the UK, career aspirations, and how they would act as ambassadors for Cardiff University and the GREAT Scholarships programme.

The scholarship is open to self-funded students only and cannot be combined with other Cardiff University fee funding. Successful applicants must also meet all visa and financial requirements as outlined in their offer letters.

Cardiff University, established in 1883, is recognised as one of the UK’s leading research-intensive institutions and continues to attract students from more than 100 countries worldwide. The GREAT Scholarships initiative reflects its commitment to strengthening international partnerships and expanding access to high-quality UK education.
