Christiano Ronaldo Fasted for Two Days to Experience Ramadan With Muslim Teammates

Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly fasted for two days during Ramadan to understand the experience of his Muslim teammates.

The revelation was shared by his former Al Nassr teammate Shaye Sharahili during an appearance on the Thmanyah Sports podcast.

According to Sharahili, Ronaldo decided to fast out of curiosity and respect while playing for Al Nassr FC in Saudi Arabia. He wanted to personally experience the discipline and routine followed by Muslim players during the holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadan is a sacred month in Islam during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. They avoid food and drink during daylight hours and focus on prayer, self-control, and charity.

Reports suggest that Ronaldo’s gesture was appreciated inside the dressing room. It reflected his interest in understanding different cultures and building stronger bonds within the team. Playing in Saudi Arabia gave him closer exposure to Islamic traditions and customs.

Sports analysts say such actions can strengthen unity in multicultural teams. Respecting teammates’ beliefs helps create trust and understanding, especially in international leagues where players come from diverse backgrounds. Ronaldo’s decision was seen as a personal effort to connect beyond football.
