The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication in Pakistan is preparing to procure around 24,000 mobile phones as part of a new digital petrol subsidy initiative. This move is aimed at supporting the rollout of a dedicated mobile application that will manage fuel distribution through a voucher-based system.
According to available information, all devices will be PTA-approved to ensure compliance with national regulations. These smartphones will be deployed at petrol pumps across the country, where they will be used to facilitate real-time verification and processing of subsidized fuel transactions.
The Ministry is leading the overall development and implementation of the system, while oil marketing companies will be responsible for distributing and managing the devices at their respective fuel stations.
