Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged Saudi Arabia to ask the United States to withdraw its forces from the kingdom. He emphasized that Iran’s recent military actions were aimed only at hostile opponents, not neighboring countries.
In a statement shared on X, Araghchi referred to Saudi Arabia as a “brotherly nation” and stressed Tehran’s respect for the kingdom. He argued that the presence of US forces does not guarantee security in the region for either Arab countries or Iran. He encouraged Riyadh to reconsider its approach to hosting foreign troops.
Araghchi clarified that Iran’s military operations are focused solely on those who threaten regional stability. He emphasized that these actions are defensive in nature, targeting aggressors rather than innocent neighbors. By taking these steps, Iran aims to protect its sovereignty and maintain security in the region.
The call to Saudi Arabia highlights Tehran’s desire for greater independence in managing regional affairs. Araghchi presented Iran’s position as an effort to strengthen peace and stability across the Middle East. He reinforced that Iran respects the sovereignty of its neighbors while defending its own national interests.
The statement also reflects Iran’s broader strategy of reducing foreign military influence in the region. By urging Saudi Arabia to reconsider hosting US forces, Araghchi signaled a push for regional self-reliance and security that does not depend on external powers.
This message underlines Iran’s official stance that its military actions are controlled, measured, and focused on protecting the region from threats, while maintaining dialogue and respect with neighboring countries.
