Iran has said that although progress was made in recent negotiations, a final agreement could not be reached due to differences on a few important issues.
According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei, the discussions covered many topics and both sides were able to move forward on several points. He explained that there was better understanding between the parties in different areas during the talks.
However, he added that disagreements on two to three major issues remained unresolved. These key differences were serious enough to stop the negotiations from reaching a final agreement.
Baghaei also mentioned that the talks lasted around 24 to 25 hours, making them the longest continuous round of negotiations in the past year. The extended duration showed that both sides were actively engaged and willing to continue discussions for a long time.
Despite these efforts, the remaining gaps proved difficult to bridge. He said that while progress is important, resolving major issues is necessary to achieve a complete agreement.
The spokesperson highlighted that such negotiations are often complex and take time, especially when dealing with sensitive matters. Even though no final deal was reached, the discussions helped both sides better understand each other’s positions.
Observers believe that continued dialogue may still lead to progress in the future. The talks are being seen as a step forward, even though the main disagreements remain unresolved for now.
