Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has stated that Donald Trump is currently operating from a weakened diplomatic position after what she described as unsuccessful Iran–US negotiations that were reportedly held in Islamabad.
Speaking during a television interview, she argued that the United States has lost significant strategic leverage in its dealings with Iran and is no longer negotiating from a position of strength as it once did. Clinton suggested that recent diplomatic efforts have failed to produce meaningful progress and may have further reduced Washington’s influence in the region.
She also criticised the direction of current US foreign policy, questioning the effectiveness of key advisers involved in the process, including Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff. According to her remarks, the involvement of these figures has not strengthened the negotiations but instead contributed to what she sees as a less coordinated diplomatic strategy.
Clinton further claimed that the present approach has weakened America’s ability to secure favourable outcomes in talks with Iran, warning that continued missteps could further erode US bargaining power in future international negotiations.
