US President Donald Trump praised Pakistan’s leadership after recent developments related to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping.
He thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling them “fantastic people” for their role in supporting regional stability.
In response, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his appreciation for President Trump’s kind remarks on behalf of Pakistan. He highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to peace and its efforts to reduce tensions in the region.
The statement comes at a time of increased diplomatic activity, especially after efforts to ease tensions linked to the Iran–Israel conflict and wider concerns about maritime security. The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is seen as a positive step, as it is one of the most important routes for global oil shipments and trade.
Pakistan has been actively involved in promoting dialogue and de-escalation between regional players. Its role as a mediator has helped encourage communication and reduce pressure during a sensitive time.
At the same time, relations between the United States and Pakistan have shown signs of improvement in recent months. Both countries are increasing engagement and cooperation on key regional and global issues.
