The Government of Punjab has officially made it mandatory for all public schools to record attendance online for both students and teaching staff, in a move aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficient record management across the education system.
Under the new directive, schools are required to ensure that daily attendance is entered into the designated digital system without delay. Authorities have clearly stated that any student or staff member whose attendance is not marked online will be treated as absent, regardless of their physical presence in the classroom.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize administrative processes within government schools and to maintain accurate, real-time data that can be monitored centrally. Officials believe that shifting to an online attendance system will help reduce discrepancies, discourage absenteeism, and provide better oversight of school operations.
In addition, strict instructions have been issued to school administrations to ensure full compliance within the given deadline. Monitoring teams will carry out regular inspections to verify that attendance records are being properly maintained. School heads will be held directly responsible for any gaps, inaccuracies, or failure to implement the system effectively, and disciplinary action may be taken in cases of non-compliance.
The move signals the government’s continued focus on digitization and improved governance within the education sector, with an emphasis on accountability at every level.
