Punjab Govt Announces E-Bike Scheme for Teachers

The Government of Punjab has started a new initiative to help teachers manage their daily travel more easily. Under this scheme, electric bikes will be provided to teachers on interest-free instalments, reducing the financial burden of commuting.

Each electric bike costs between Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 250,000. To make them more affordable, the government is offering a subsidy of around 30 to 40 percent. This means teachers will only need to pay the remaining amount, which will be spread over a period of two to three years.

Monthly instalments are expected to range from Rs. 3,600 to Rs. 4,200, making it easier for teachers to own a personal mode of transport without heavy upfront costs.

The plan is designed to support educators who often travel long distances, especially those working in remote and semi-urban areas where public transport options are limited.

Apart from improving convenience, the scheme also encourages the use of eco-friendly vehicles. Electric bikes produce less pollution compared to traditional fuel-based transport, helping to promote a cleaner environment.

Officials believe this initiative will improve mobility for teachers, allowing them to reach their schools more efficiently and on time. It may also reduce overall travel expenses, giving teachers better financial stability.

By supporting educators in this way, the government aims to strengthen the education sector while also promoting sustainable transportation solutions across the province.
