The Government of Pakistan has shortened the delivery time for ordinary passports from 21 days to 14 days. The step is aimed at improving public services and reducing long waiting periods for applicants.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting led by Mohsin Naqvi. During the meeting, he also instructed all passport offices to move toward a fully cashless system within the next 15 days.
This change is expected to reduce corruption and limit the role of unauthorized agents who often exploit applicants.
Officials confirmed that the new 14-day processing timeline has been implemented immediately. This means applicants can now expect faster delivery of their passports without additional procedures.
The government is also working on new improvements, including the introduction of a “business passport” category. This option is expected to facilitate frequent travelers, especially those involved in business activities, by offering more convenience.
In addition, efforts are being made to enhance home delivery services. This will allow applicants to receive their passports at their doorstep, saving time and avoiding repeated visits to passport offices.
The move comes at a time when passport demand is increasing across the country. Many citizens had previously faced delays due to high application volumes and limited processing capacity.
By introducing these changes, the government aims to make the passport system more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly, ensuring better service delivery for the public.
