US President Donald Trump has issued a firm warning to Iran, stating that any attack on American naval or commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz would result in a “very strong and severe” response from the United States. His remarks underline escalating concerns over maritime security in one of the world’s most critical energy and shipping corridors.
In a recent interview, he highlighted the United States’ extensive military capabilities, including its global network of bases, advanced defense systems, and rapid-response readiness. He also claimed that U.S. forces had already taken action against several small hostile boats operating in the region, presenting this as evidence of Washington’s willingness to protect international shipping lanes if threatened.
Trump further called on South Korea to participate in an initiative referred to as “Project Freedom,” described as a coordinated effort aimed at safeguarding commercial maritime routes following reported threats against international vessels. The proposal comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with global attention focused on the security of key trade passages such as the Strait of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint for global oil transportation.
