Pakistan is set to host a major international tennis event for the first time, as the Billie Jean King Cup Group III Asian Qualifying round will take place in October 2026. The announcement was made by the Pakistan Tennis Federation, marking an important step for the country’s sports scene.
Around 10 teams from across Asia are expected to take part in the tournament. This will bring international players to Pakistan and give local fans a chance to watch competitive women’s tennis at home. It also shows growing trust from global sports bodies in Pakistan’s ability to host safe and organized events.
PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said that hosting international tournaments in recent years has helped improve Pakistan’s image worldwide. He added that such events also support local players by giving them exposure, experience, and a chance to improve their rankings.
In recent times, Pakistani players have shown progress in International Tennis Federation events, which has encouraged further investment in the sport. Hosting this tournament is expected to boost tennis development in the country and inspire young athletes to take up the game.
The event will be another step forward in bringing international sports back to Pakistan.
