Punjab Traffic Police Take Action in Lahore Against 17,000 Vehicles

The Lahore Traffic Police have initiated an extensive crackdown on traffic violations throughout Lahore, resulting in action against more than 17,000 vehicles within just one week. The large-scale enforcement drive reflects a renewed effort by authorities to address growing concerns over road safety, traffic discipline, and increasing congestion across the city’s busy roads.

During the operation, officials impounded over 7,000 motorcycles, primarily targeting riders involved in reckless driving and dangerous road behavior. In addition to this, thousands of motorists were issued fines for a wide range of violations, including improper lane usage, jumping traffic signals, and riding without helmets. Authorities also registered cases against underage drivers, as well as individuals found violating one-way traffic regulations, which have been a persistent issue in several areas.

Traffic officials emphasized that modern surveillance tools are playing a key role in the campaign. Systems such as Safe City Authority cameras and real-time monitoring technology are being actively utilized to detect violations and ensure consistent enforcement without relying solely on on-ground personnel. This integration of technology is intended to improve efficiency and accountability in managing traffic flow.

Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate by strictly adhering to traffic laws and regulations, highlighting that public compliance is essential for achieving safer roads. Officials also noted that such enforcement measures are not only aimed at penalizing offenders but also at promoting responsible driving habits, reducing accidents, and easing congestion in one of the country’s busiest urban centers.
