Severe Weather Alert: Punjab to Get Thunder, Rainstorms from May 11

Authorities have issued a weather warning for north-east Punjab as a strong weather system is expected to affect several areas from May 11 to May 13.

According to officials, the system may bring thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds, lightning, and possible hailstorms in different districts. Areas including Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Okara are expected to experience severe weather conditions during this period.

Meteorological experts have warned about the possible formation of a “super cell,” a powerful storm system that can produce intense rainfall, damaging winds, hail, and dangerous lightning activity. Officials fear the weather could damage weak buildings, trees, electric poles, and outdoor structures.

Emergency response teams and local authorities have been placed on alert to handle any possible emergencies during the weather spell. Rescue and disaster management departments are also monitoring the situation closely.

Citizens have been advised to remain indoors during heavy storms and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in open areas. Authorities also warned people to stay away from electric poles, trees, and weak structures during strong winds and lightning activity.

Farmers and transport operators have been asked to take precautionary measures to reduce possible losses caused by heavy rain or hailstorms.

Officials said the weather system may also lead to temporary disruptions in traffic and electricity supply in some affected areas.
