7 Ar*med Robbers Steal Truck Carrying Cooking Oil Worth Rs. 2 Crore on Motorway

In a daring armed robbery, seven suspects hijacked a truck loaded with edible oil worth around Rs. 2 crore on the M9 Motorway near Commander City, within the limits of Nooriabad police station.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the truck was transporting cooking oil from Karachi Port to Sialkot when the robbers, travelling in a double-cabin vehicle, intercepted it late at night. The armed men stopped the truck, overpowered the driver and cleaner, tied them up, and took control of the vehicle. The driver and cleaner were later abandoned several kilometres away.

The transport company reported the major theft to the police, after which an FIR was registered. Police have started an investigation and are collecting evidence from the area. CCTV footage from the motorway and nearby check posts is being reviewed to identify the suspects.

This incident has raised serious concerns about security on Pakistan’s important motorways. Highway robberies of this scale are rare but cause heavy financial losses to businesses. Edible oil prices are already high, and such thefts may further affect the market.

Police officials say they are taking the case seriously, and efforts are underway to recover the stolen truck and arrest the robbers.
