Internet users across Pakistan are likely to face slow speeds and service disruptions for one week starting from Monday, May 11, 2026. Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has officially warned customers about the upcoming issue caused by major repair work on submarine cables.
The maintenance is being carried out by the International Cable Consortium and will continue until May 18. During this period, internet quality may be badly affected, especially during peak evening hours (6 PM to 11 PM) when most people use the internet for streaming, online classes, and work.
Submarine cables are the main source of Pakistan’s internet connectivity with the rest of the world. Repair work is necessary to fix faults and improve long-term speed and reliability. However, it will cause temporary inconvenience to millions of users.
PTCL has requested customers to show patience during this period. The company advised people to avoid heavy internet usage, such as HD video streaming and large downloads, during peak hours. Mobile internet services may also experience some slowdown due to increased pressure on local networks.
This is a routine but important maintenance activity. Once completed, it is expected to bring better and more stable internet service across the country. Users are advised to stay updated through official PTCL announcements.
