Pakistan’s airport authorities are planning a major construction project in Islamabad that could change the city’s skyline. The proposed project is a large multi-storey aviation complex that may become one of the tallest buildings in the capital.
According to officials, the Pakistan Airport Authority is planning to build this complex in the Blue Area on a 9,000 square yard plot.
The building will include offices for the authority, airline headquarters, hotels, a museum, food courts, and other commercial spaces designed to support aviation and public services in one place.
A public hearing regarding the project is scheduled for May 18, where stakeholders and citizens will be able to share their views. The proposal has already received approval from the Capital Development Authority, which has given initial clearance for the building plan.
Currently, Islamabad’s tallest structure is the under-construction Garden Residential Apartments, which is about 470 feet high. It is followed by Centaurus Mall, which stands at around 335 feet.
The new aviation complex is expected to become a strong candidate to surpass these buildings, although officials have not confirmed its final height yet.
Authorities say the project is aimed at modernizing aviation infrastructure in the capital and creating a central hub for airlines and related services. The inclusion of commercial facilities such as hotels and food courts is expected to make the complex a mixed-use development that serves both professionals and the public.
Experts believe the project could attract investment and improve Islamabad’s urban development landscape. However, some details, including the final height and construction timeline, are still under review.
If completed as planned, the building could become a landmark structure in Islamabad and a significant addition to Pakistan’s aviation and architectural development.
