Pakistan Govt to Pay Salaries, Pensions Before Eid-ul-Adha 2026

The Pakistani government has decided to release salaries and pensions for federal employees earlier than usual ahead of Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

According to officials, salaries and pensions for May 2026 will be paid on May 22 so that government employees and pensioners can manage their Eid-related expenses in advance. The decision was made to provide financial convenience before the religious holidays.

The Ministry of Finance has issued instructions to all relevant departments to ensure timely payments under the Federal Government Receipts and Payments Rules 2025. Authorities said all ministries, offices, and departments have been directed to complete the disbursement process smoothly and without delays.

The early release of payments is expected to benefit thousands of federal employees and pensioners across the country as they prepare for Eid-ul-Adha shopping and other expenses.

Meanwhile, SUPARCO has shared its prediction regarding the expected date of Eid-ul-Adha. According to the agency, the moon for Dhul Hijjah is likely to be sighted on May 17 because the moon’s age and visibility conditions are expected to be favorable, especially in coastal areas.

Based on these calculations, Eid-ul-Adha is expected to fall on May 27 in Pakistan. However, the final announcement regarding moon sighting will be made by the official Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after observing the moon.

Citizens usually begin Eid preparations several days before the festival, including shopping for sacrificial animals, food items, clothing, and travel arrangements.

Officials believe the early release of salaries and pensions will help people better manage their household budgets and Eid expenses during the festive period.
