Babusar Top, one of the most important mountain passes in northern Pakistan, has finally reopened for traffic after remaining closed for seven months due to heavy snowfall and glaciers.
Authorities have successfully cleared the snow and ice, restoring the vital road link between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan just in time for the summer tourism season.
The reopening of Babusar Top is expected to greatly benefit tourists and locals by providing a shorter and more scenic route to popular destinations in Gilgit-Baltistan. It reduces travel time significantly compared to the longer Karakoram Highway route.
Meanwhile, Murree police have announced a strict security plan for Eid ul Adha. Over 700 police personnel will be deployed across the hill station to ensure the safety of visitors. Section 144 has been imposed to maintain law and order, and the new “Safe Tourism Murree” mobile app has been launched to provide real-time traffic updates and emergency assistance.
Authorities have urged tourists to follow all safety guidelines, avoid reckless driving, and cooperate with law enforcement during the busy Eid holidays.
