A recent analysis conducted under the standards of the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has raised serious concerns about the quality of bottled and mineral water in Pakistan. Out of 228 brands tested, 35 brands were declared unsafe for human consumption due to chemical and microbial contamination.
According to the report, 10 brands were found to contain excessive levels of sodium, which can be harmful, especially for people with high blood pressure, heart issues, or kidney problems. These brands include:
| Sr. No. | Brand Name |
|---|---|
| 1 | Brooklyn |
| 2 | A2Z |
| 3 | Jewel |
| 4 | Jass |
| 5 | White Water |
| 6 | Raindrop |
| 7 | Aqua Health |
| 8 | Super Drop |
| 9 | Nestlé Pure Life |
| 10 | Blue Water |
Additionally, 25 brands were found contaminated with bacteria, making them unsafe to drink.
The discovery has shocked many consumers who rely on bottled water due to doubts about the quality of tap water in many cities. Health experts warn that regular consumption of such contaminated water can lead to serious health risks, including stomach infections, digestive issues, and long-term complications from high sodium intake.
When contacted, representatives of the concerned companies claimed that their products are safe, of high quality, and fully meet all required standards. However, the official laboratory test results conducted under PSQCA guidelines tell a different story.
This report highlights the urgent need for stricter monitoring and quality control in Pakistan’s bottled water industry. Consumers are advised to check the latest PSQCA or PCRWR reports before buying any bottled water brand and to prefer trusted, regularly tested options.
