Pilgrims Perform Hajj Rituals at Mount Arafat Under Scorching 45°C Heat

Millions of Muslim pilgrims gathered at Mount Arafat on the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah to perform the most important ritual of Hajj 2026, known as Wuquf-e-Arafat (the Standing at Arafat). Despite the extreme heat reaching 45°C, pilgrims showed remarkable patience and devotion as they stood in prayer from noon till sunset.

Mount Arafat, also known as Jabal al-Rahma, holds huge religious significance as it is the place where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his Farewell Sermon. On this sacred day, pilgrims spent hours praying, reciting the Quran, and seeking forgiveness from Allah.

The scorching desert heat made the day physically very challenging. Many pilgrims used umbrellas for shade, while others relied on the newly installed cooling facilities provided by Saudi authorities. These include large shade structures, misting fans, and ground cooling systems covering hundreds of thousands of square meters around Mount Arafat and Namira Mosque.

Saudi officials had issued safety guidelines urging pilgrims to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and use available cooling areas. Medical teams were also present in large numbers to help those suffering from heat exhaustion.

Despite the difficult weather conditions, the atmosphere remained deeply spiritual. Pilgrims from across the world, including a large number from Pakistan, expressed gratitude for being able to perform this once-in-a-lifetime ritual. Their strong faith and determination in such harsh heat have once again highlighted the power of devotion during the holy pilgrimage.
