A major fire broke out in the Margalla Hills behind Islamabad’s F-5 sector on Tuesday, triggering a large-scale emergency operation. More than 65 firefighters and rescue personnel were deployed to control the blaze, which spread across three different locations in the hills.
According to the Islamabad District Administration, strong winds and difficult mountainous terrain made the firefighting efforts highly challenging. Firefighting teams worked continuously using available resources to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further into the forested areas.
As a safety measure, all hiking trails in the Margalla Hills have been temporarily closed for visitors. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and local administration have strongly advised citizens to avoid the area until the situation is fully under control.
Officials said continuous monitoring is underway, and additional support has been called in if required. The cause of the fire is not yet confirmed, but dry weather conditions and strong winds are believed to have helped it spread quickly.
The Margalla Hills are a popular tourist and hiking spot for residents of Islamabad and nearby areas. Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate and stay away from the hills during this emergency. Updates on the situation will be shared as firefighting operations continue.
