Begging Individuals Caught Selling Qurbani Meat for Rs. 800 Per Kg in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

An unusual and concerning trend has surfaced in Islamabad and Rawalpindi during Eid-ul-Azha, where groups of beggars collecting sacrificial meat in the name of needy families are reportedly reselling it openly for profit instead of distributing it among deserving people.

According to reports, these organized groups have been moving door-to-door in different sectors and neighborhoods, asking residents for qurbani meat while claiming it is being collected for poor and underprivileged families. However, many citizens later discovered that a large portion of the collected meat was being sold in local markets rather than reaching those genuinely in need.

A temporary meat market has reportedly emerged on Jamia Masjid Road in Rawalpindi, where the collected sacrificial meat is being sold openly at reduced prices. Beef is reportedly being sold for around Rs. 800 per kilogram, while mutton prices range between Rs. 1500 and Rs. 1600 per kilogram, significantly lower than regular market rates during Eid days.

Reports suggest that local butchers, shopkeepers, and residents have been purchasing the meat in large quantities due to the comparatively cheaper prices. The development has raised serious concerns among citizens, social workers, and community members, who fear that this organized activity could deprive genuinely deserving families of their rightful share of sacrificial meat during Eid-ul-Azha.

Residents have urged the authorities to investigate the matter and take appropriate action against networks allegedly involved in turning charitable donations into a business. Many people have also appealed to citizens to ensure that their qurbani meat reaches deserving households directly or through trusted welfare organizations to prevent misuse.
