Leather Market Set to Earn Nearly Rs. 9 Billion Just From Eid Skins

Pakistan’s leather industry is expected to earn close to Rs. 9 billion from animal hides collected during Eid-ul-Azha this year. According to the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA), around 7.5 million sacrificial animal hides were gathered across the country.

This huge collection includes about 2.8 million hides from cows and bulls, 4.3 million from goats, 500,000 from sheep, and 30,000 from camels. Cow hides alone are worth around Rs. 6 billion at current market prices.

After Eid, traders and tanneries buy these raw hides in large numbers. The fresh supply helps factories produce high-quality leather for shoes, jackets, bags, and other goods. Many of these products are exported to different countries, bringing valuable foreign money into Pakistan.

Industry experts say this seasonal collection is very important for the leather sector. It provides cheap raw material and supports thousands of small traders, butchers, and workers. Better prices this year and growing international demand have created hope for a stronger recovery in the industry.

However, Pakistan’s overall leather exports have faced challenges in recent years due to global competition and higher costs. Still, Eid skin collection remains a major yearly boost for the sector. It helps keep factories running and creates jobs for many families.
