Punjab Food Authority Discards 18,000kg Fat, 600 Litres Oil and 3,000kg Dead Chickens

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out a big operation against unsafe food in Lahore. Teams seized and destroyed 18,000 kilograms of animal fat and offal, 600 litres of prepared oil, and 3,000 kilograms of dead chickens. The raids happened in areas like Sundar Estate, Shahdara, Tollinton Market, and Mondiali Stop.

PFA Director General Syed Musa Raza ordered the crackdown. Officials found many serious problems. The oil made from animal fat lacked the required Methanol Dye and proper records. They also saw poor hygiene, no medical certificates for workers, and unsafe storage. Milk and meat were kept together in old, rusted freezers, which can cause serious health risks.

During the drive, one case was registered and three people were arrested. A water plant and a food production unit were sealed. Fines of Rs 352,000 were given to 19 food outlets.

The PFA is working hard to stop the food fraud mafia. DG Raza said no one will be spared who endangers public health by selling adulterated or substandard items. Such actions protect citizens from dangerous food and encourage businesses to follow safety rules. The authority promised to continue strict monitoring across Punjab for safe and quality food.
