Rupee hits above 165 against dollar

Due to import payment pressure and a delay in foreign currency receipts, the Pakistani rupee lost Rs0.77 against the US dollar in the interbank market, closing at a 10-month low of Rs165.20.

The Pakistani rupee closed over Rs165 versus the US dollar on Friday, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The rupee finished at its lowest level since September 30, 2020, according to a report by Arif Habib Limited.

“To date in fiscal year 2021-22, the rupee has depreciated 3.9 percent, and 7.1 percent since achieving a recent high of Rs152.28 on May 14, 2021,” it stated.
