The National Assembly was informed that around 3,500 Pakistanis were deported from the United Arab Emirates due to alleged violations of social media laws during the Iran–US conflict.
During a parliamentary session, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told lawmakers that the government is providing support to the affected individuals and their families. He said efforts are being made to assist those who have returned and address the challenges they are facing.
According to officials, the deportations were linked to the alleged misuse of social media platforms during a sensitive regional situation. Authorities believe that online activity related to the conflict may have violated local regulations, leading to action against some foreign residents.
The government also informed the assembly that Pakistani diplomatic missions are actively engaged in supporting citizens abroad. Officials said embassies and consulates are working through diplomatic and consular channels to help affected Pakistanis and address similar issues when they arise.
The matter has drawn attention to the importance of following local laws and regulations while living in other countries, especially regarding online activity and social media use. Authorities emphasized that citizens working overseas should remain aware of the legal requirements of their host countries.
Government representatives assured lawmakers that they will continue monitoring the situation and providing necessary assistance to those impacted.
They also highlighted the role of diplomatic missions in protecting the interests of Pakistani citizens abroad and ensuring they receive guidance and support when facing legal or administrative challenges.
The government said it remains committed to assisting overseas Pakistanis and strengthening awareness about responsible social media use while living and working in foreign countries.
