Pakistan has made a proud leap in global rankings. According to the World Giving Report 2026 by the UK-based Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), Pakistan now stands at 7th position among 105 countries. This is a big jump of 10 places from 17th last year.
The report measures generosity through different actions: giving money to charities, helping people in need, religious donations, and civic engagement. It is based on surveys of thousands of people worldwide.
In Pakistan, 83% of people donated money in the past year. About 57% gave to charitable organizations, 59% helped individuals or families directly, and 37% made religious donations. Pakistanis give an average of 1.9% of their income to charity, nearly double the global average of 1%. This shows strong giving habits even when facing economic challenges.
The Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) welcomed the news. It says this ranking reflects Pakistan’s deep-rooted culture of community support and kindness. Many donations happen through informal ways, like helping neighbours or relatives, which is common in Pakistani society.
Experts note that religious values and a sense of social responsibility play a big role. Despite lower average incomes, Pakistanis show more generosity than people in many richer countries. This spirit helps millions through education, health, disaster relief, and daily support.
This achievement is good news for Pakistan. It highlights the power of ordinary citizens to make a difference. With growing trust in charities, the country can build even stronger systems for effective giving in the future.
