Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman visited the newly established centre and reviewed its digital monitoring system. The facility uses real-time cyber surveillance tools to track online content and help authorities respond quickly to potential threats.
During the visit, the chief secretary highlighted the importance of maintaining harmony and ensuring that Muharram gatherings take place peacefully. He said protecting social unity and promoting respect among communities is a collective responsibility.
Authorities have been directed to take immediate legal action against individuals or social media accounts involved in spreading hatred, encouraging violence, or attempting to create unrest through online platforms.
The digital media cell will work in coordination with relevant departments and law enforcement agencies to monitor digital spaces and prevent misinformation or provocative content from affecting public peace.
Officials believe that early detection and timely action can help reduce the chances of conflict and support a safer environment for citizens during Muharram.
